Approach

'To twist, stretch and move around, is pleasant and enjoyable, a body holiday. There is an unexpected delight in meeting earth and sky at the same moment Vanda Scararvelli

This teacher training course provides you with the practical skills and expertise to teach Yoga according to the philosophy of Vanda Scaravelli.

Vanda Scaravelli inspired an approach to Yoga that encourages you to undo the doing, to relax and move without the slightest effort. Attention to the breath, to the connection to the ground, to alignment of the spine and flow of energy in the body resonate throughout the art and science of both Yoga and Shiatsu. The Shiatsu College has been teaching these arts for 30 years and we can provide you with the tools to teach. In addition we explore the meridian system and its relationship to Yoga.

The first year is a stand-alone 200 hour programme

The second year is a 300 hour programme making a combination of 500 hours, creating a comprehensive and rigorous teacher training course.

Year one runs one weekend a month, over 10 months from October to July

Year two runs one weekend a month, over 15 months from September to November.

Annie Cryar has been practising Yoga for 43 years and trained with the Footprints of Yoga school. In addition to teaching Yoga she is Principal of the Shiatsu College, Hastings and became fascinated by the co-relations between Yoga inspired by Scaravelli and the practice of Qigong and Shiatsu. This course explores these relationships whilst providing you with the tools to explore and teach. You will also have an opportunity to opt for a formal Government recognised teaching qualification, the Level 4 Certificate of Education and Training.

Annie has recently trained as a teacher with the evidenced based Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs programme and is keen to share this scientific yoga research study.
