Universal YogaYoga Teacher & practitioner Training

The Universal Yoga TTC is based on the ancient principle of the gurukula system. The teacher and student have a close and supportive relationship, and the course develops and responds to the students needs.

This means that the course seldom accepts more than 12 students who all form an intuitive and relaxed relationship with one or both of the two main tutors, who guide them individually through their yoga journey. All backgrounds are accepted and respected and built upon. Both Naomi and Charlotta have their roots in Sivananda yoga, and Naomi is also trained in Anusara Yoga and currently in Scaravelli. Charlotta works primarily with Mental Health issues within the NHS and also with young people and brings her understanding of this vulnerable group into the training.

Naomi has trained extensively with John Friend, Anodea Judith and also BJ Galvin. She has an active yoga therapy practise, working with athletes and others on alignment and general well being. With a background in counselling, she also brings a deeply compassionate presence to the training. Naomi has taught yoga since 2003.

Charlotta has trained with the Minded Institute (350 hours) as a Yoga Therapist for Mental Health, Dr Krishnamurti from Bangalore University, NIschala Joy Devi and Mukunda Styles. She has taught yoga since 2003. She runs Universal Yoga and has designed and delivers the TeenYoga course worldwide, a course to train teachers to work with adolescents.

The course has a specialist teacher in Anatomy and Physiology who is experienced and trained as an osteopath and yoga therapist. We are also delighted to invite the expert, Dr Uma Dinsmore on our training to teach both Yoga Nidra and Womb Yoga. Moreover, we place great importance on the impact of diet on our wellbeing, so invite Dr Landsman to teach a full day of Ayurveda and also give personal consultations to the students (at an extra cost).

The students have the opportunity to experience an ashram environment, over weekends and one full week during the duration of a full ten months. This pattern enables the student to transform slowly and comfortably at their own pace, if they wish to, in a safe and held environment, which becomes their second home.

The conclusion of the course is to slowly allow the student teacher to become more and more embodied in their confidence and also in the knowledge that their unique experience and understanding is fully relevant and important to their students. We are not looking to produce cookie cutter students, but rather teachers who are confident, compassionate and humble and fully connected with their own roots and their support mechanisms.

What people say:

I would not hesitate to recommend Universal Yoga's teacher training. I think it has been one of the most positive life changing experiences I've ever had. Charlotta and Naomi both bring a wealth of experience, understanding, knowledge and nurturing to their teaching. You will be totally supported during the experience ( and extremely well fed). This will help you to develop your teaching at your own pace and in your own unique way. It will also help you to offer that care and support to your students. If you are hesitating about signing up don't worry, it will be one of the best decisions you've ever made. (Carol Plumridge, Osteopath and Yoga Therapist)
